Caleb Engstrom repurposes the bottoms of buckets and trashcans in his Los Angeles studio to create topographic porcelain reproductions of their surfaces. The resulting tableware shapes playfully transform vessels for scraps and waste into vehicles for nourishment. Engstrom's "Bottom of the Barrel" series spans various sizes of dishware, and the utilitarian capabilities intersect form and function—a move characteristic of Engstrom's design shop, Rest Energy.
